The Austin Family Photographer

For Extraordinary People

Your life is unique

juicy, messy, exhilarating, chaotic, deafening, intimate, joyous, absurd, boring, connected, quiet, magical

Your photos should be too

Deborah Barak at the beach

Hey, I’m Deborah.

I’m a 5 foot tall ninja with a camera and an accent, mama to a spicy little one, and an award winning documentary family photographer. I make art from people’s ordinary lives.

My mission is to leave parents and kids feeling seen and loved for exactly who they are and to capture the important details that make your life YOUR LIFE.

I am pro - all ethnicities, pronouns, neuro-divergences and abilities. Whoever you are, your family is extraordinary, and I would be honored to document your lives together.

I photograph Day In The Life sessions all year round here in Austin, Tx, or anywhere that you’d like to travel me to.

“It is easy to focus on the chaos of life, but wow there are so many tiny beautiful moments sprinkled in, between! And Deborah was able to capture those. She will help you see the beauty in yourself and the moments you often overlook.”

Documentary family photography is a journalistic take on the family photo shoot. It is entirely unposed and undirected. I capture candid moments of connection and relationships in your family as you go about your day to day life together.

Think of me as your warm, fun and entirely non-judgemental friend, come to hang out for a bit.

Your family photos are meant to be seen

Capturing vibrant, honest photographs of your day to day is not the end of the process.

As your family photographer, I would be serving you a half-assed experience if I just gave you a load of digital files.

I specialize in creating custom heirloom albums and fine art statement pieces with the photos that have the deepest meaning for you.

Hold your story in your hands and preserve it for your grandkids.
